1MDB's saga unfolds with a new twist with the arrest of Xavier Andre Justo, a Swiss national of Spanish parents. He is an ex- IT Executive of PetroSaudi, a multinational Oil and Gas Company which has business collaboration with 1MDB Malaysia.
He was in Koh Samui, Thailand when he was nabbed and charged by Thai Authorities for blackmailing and extorting his former employer, PetroSaudi International.
Justo is believed to be the culprit who relayed the leaked emails and documents to the London-based Sarawak Report. Some of the information were genuine while the rest had been creatively altered or tampered with. The Sarawak Report's editor, Clare Rewcastle Brown, a sister-in- law of former UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, confirmed they received the leaked information.
Justo led a lavish and hedonistic lifestyle in Koh Samui, Thailand with his new young wife when he was arrested. He started his career in banking for 12 years in Switzerland. After a divorce with his first wife, he resorted to heavy drinking and tattooing his body.
After sometime, he left for Thailand and met a Saudi business man who offered him a job as IT Executive with PetroSaudi, a multinational Oil and Gas Company based in Saudi Arabia. The rest are history.
The Thai Authority should expedite the investigation and prosecution. We need the answers soonest possible to put the issue behind us. It seems that few Malaysian names were mentioned by Justo when the Thai authority made a thorough inquiry about the leaked information. If it is true, the Thai Authority should provide the Malaysian names to the Malaysian authority to enable the Malaysian counterpart to pursue immediate legal action.
In the meantime, we should not speculate anything and jump the gun. Just be patient and let the Thai Authority complete their inquiry. The case is in their hand and the blackmail was reported by Justo ex-employer, PertoSaudi International.
In its latest statement, 1MDB confirmed that their CEO and ex-CEO will attend the coming PAC Inquiry.
